My maternal grandfather raised my brother and I.  He was the kindest, most generous man I’ve ever known.  He instilled in me a love for family.  He always said that we were stronger if the family pulled together to accomplish anything.  At bedtime, he would tell us tall tales about his ancestors.  He passed away when I was 14.

Ever since I’ve wanted to find out who his ancestors were that produced such a wonderful man.  Unfortunately school and life got in the way for the next 46 years.  In 2006 when I retired, I decided that I could now devote some time to finding out about my maternal grandfather.  In the last 13 years I’ve learned a lot about both my maternal and paternal grandparents’ ancestors.
